Christian V
Christian V, future King of Denmark and Norway, was born in 1647 in the seaport of Flensburg Duborg. At that time, it didn't mean much for Germans. But, that was back then.
Christian V was a King made of more. And so He expanded his empire offshore in the Danish Virgin Islands. A vision that would change forever the history of Flensburg, his hometown.
The lion and the eagle in the Christian V Rum coat of arms represent Denmark and Germany – two nations that have fought over the harbour city of Flensburg for centuries, whose legacy lives on in every drop of this rum.

The Trade Route
A trade route between the Danish West Indies and Flensburg was created. And because the sugar cane imported from the Virgin Islands was so mouth-watering, we people from the North became addicted to rum ever since.
Flensburg Becomes German
Flensburg turned German after the win of Prussia and Austria. Okay the trade route slightly changed – moving from Virgin Islands to Jamaica – but the quality of sugar cane distilled in Flensburg rum factories always stayed the same.
Long Live the King
Christian V's legacy keeps inspiring the younger generation of Flensburgers. So to continue His story, and because real legends always rise from their ashes, we distill in our factory in Flensburg the same sugar cane imported 260 years ago from the Virgin Islands.
